Highlands Academy classes
Spring 2008 semester: January 16-May 7
Class I: The Thought of C.S. Lewis (1:00-2:15 p.m.)
This class will explore the wit and wisdom of one of the most influential Christians of the 20th century.
We will consider together his understanding of the character of God, of the place of man, and of the battle between good and evil.
Our goal with this class is that we will come out the other side more joyful in our faith, more careful in our thinking,
and more humble in our walk.
Texts: The Screwtape Letters, The Great Divorce, The Abolition of Man, and The Space Trilogy,
all by C.S. Lewis.
Class II: The Church in History (2:30-3:45 p.m.)
This class will explore the grace and providence of God as He grows His church through the ages. We will consider many of the
great controversies of the church, the great theological struggles, the different ways in which our faith has been manifest
through time. Our goal for this class is that we come out the other side with a deeper appreciation for our fathers,
and a greater grasp of God's sovereign rule over history.
Text: The Church in History by R.B. Kuiper.
Class registration is $75 per student, $25 for every additional family member. Meeting place is the Mendota Community Center.
There are no age requirements, but please note that our texts are written for adult laypmen in the case of CS Lewis,
and high school students in the case of church history.
To register, call 877-878-2238, or email Dante at info[at]highlandsstudycenter[dot]org.
